Some Days You Just Need a Hug

Some Days You Just Need a Hug

You know the feeling.

You’ve been going since early this morning.

Work. Meetings. Emails. Traffic. People asking questions. More emails. Maybe you’ve trained. Maybe you’ve spent the day on your feet. Maybe you’ve spent the entire day sitting at a desk wondering why your back hurts when you haven’t moved more than twelve metres.

Whatever it was, you’ve had enough.

You get home.

The front door closes behind you.

And for the first time all day, nobody needs anything from you.

That’s when the shoes come off.

Maybe you change into something that has absolutely no business being seen in public.

You make a drink. You put your feet up. And suddenly the couch looks like the greatest invention in human history.

There might be a book. There might be a movie.

There might be three episodes of something you’ve already watched.

There might just be silence.

And then you realise your feet are still wearing the socks you’ve had on all day.

Time for a change.

Enter The Hug

These aren’t socks for workouts or smash PBs.

And that’s exactly why we love them.

The Hug is a beautifully soft cashmere-blend comfort sock made for the other part of life.

The part where you’re home. The part where you’re winding down. The part where you finally get to stop.

They’re soft enough to feel like a little bit of luxury, with gentle cushioning underfoot and a relaxed fit that doesn’t feel like it’s trying to squeeze your leg into submission.

You pull them on. And that’s it.

Your feet have officially clocked off.

The perfect bed socks… without being boring bed socks

Let’s talk about bed socks.

Because sometimes you want something warmer and more comfortable than your everyday socks when you’re heading to bed or settling in for the evening.

But you don’t necessarily want some enormous fluffy thing that makes your feet look like they’ve been swallowed by two small clouds.

The Hug sits somewhere in between.

Soft enough for winding down. Comfortable enough for lounging. Easy enough to wear around the house.

And, if that’s how you roll, perfectly at home as a pair of bed socks. They’re also a great alternative to traditional slipper socks when you don’t actually want a slipper.

Sometimes you just want a really good sock. No rubber sole. No chunky construction. No trying to turn a sock into footwear.

Just soft, comfortable socks for when you’re at home and your feet have had enough of the day.

And here’s the thing… This isn’t really about winter.

Sure, The Hug is fantastic when it’s cold.

There’s something particularly satisfying about pulling on soft socks when the weather outside is doing its best impression of Antarctica.

But comfort doesn’t have a season. Sometimes it’s a hot summer evening and you’ve been running around all day. The aircon is on and you’re just want to chill……literally.

Sometimes you’ve spent Saturday doing absolutely everything except relaxing. Sometimes you’ve been travelling. Sometimes you’ve worked from home and somehow ended up working longer than if you’d gone into the office.

Sometimes it’s Sunday morning and you’ve got nowhere to be.

And sometimes…

you’ve simply had a day.

You don’t need a reason. You don’t need to have earned it. You don’t need to have climbed a mountain before you’re allowed to put your feet up.

You can just put on comfortable socks.

This is the bit we really like

GearSocks has always been about people who do stuff.

Runners. Walkers. Hikers. Workers. Athletes. People who train. People who sweat. People who spend weekends doing things that make Monday morning considerably less enjoyable.

We love all of that.

But people who do stuff also need to recharge.

That’s where The Hug comes in.

It’s the sock you reach for when the day’s work is finished. The sock you pull on before settling into your favourite chair. The sock that lives next to the couch. The sock you pack for a weekend away because you know there’ll be a point where you don’t want to go anywhere.

The sock you go to be in. The sock you put on when you’re making coffee on a slow morning and have no intention of putting proper shoes on until absolutely necessary.

It’s a different kind of performance. The performance of doing nothing.

And frankly, we’re pretty good at it.

So go on. Put your feet up.

Pick a colour.

Cocoa. Warm Vanilla. Latte. Marshmallow and many others.

Pull them on. Find the book.

Start the movie. Make the tea.

Pour the wine. Whatever your version of switching off looks like.

The day can wait. The emails can wait.

The washing can definitely wait. Your feet have done enough.

Give them The Hug.

Are Toe Socks Better for Running?

Are toe socks better for running?

We get asked this a lot.

Not necessarily. They’re just a different tool.

Toe socks have some genuine advantages, particularly if you struggle with blisters between your toes or like the feeling of your toes being separated.

But traditional running socks still have some pretty big advantages when it comes to technical performance. So let's break it down.
